If I'd mentioned engine codes eg. AAA or 9a I suspect he'd have thought it was a battery engine

Hic have been great to me and I cant remember having issues when I insured my 6A block KR head mk2 and there great about my mk1, even had a call back after pics where sent in from one of the girls to confirm amounts even though it can be all done by email, I remember years ago having a lengthy chat with one of the guys about nos on a 8v engine. Ill admit nowadays there not as personal as they used to be but you cant get angry at a company that wants to grow and have a fixed method of doing things, remember there not a vdub specialists, they just normally like dealing with vdub people.
Also as Jon says your situation is very unique, not many people buy an engine without any idea what car it comes out of.

Does that mean if I went out and got a block or engine from an old '86 Jetta GT and fitted it to my '85 Golf GTI 8v they would reduce my premium over a standard golf GTI 8v? when in fact its an identical engine (however the Jetta was always a much cheaper car to insure)

Brentacre for the win.
Have 3 cars insured with them. Good company.

Brentacre just quoted my dad over £550 for a MK2 VR6. He is 55 and has full NCB, What more do you need!?
HIC were £250, Not bad but still high seeing as the 911 is only about £400.

Brentacres last renewal was more expensive this last time despite being 25 with 6 NCB than their quote the previous year 24 with 5 NCB..
so I moved to Flux. Brentacre did call back to nearly match it.. but just give your best 1st time = retain customers. I know lots of people don't question their insurance quote year on year so they make money with people who keep renewing.. but still |
